Aki gyermeket vállal, egy rövid időre eltűnik. Van aki önszántából vonul el ebben az érzékeny időszakban a világ elől, valakit csak az anyaság, mint full-time-job ragad el a valóságtól. Gáldi Vinkó Andi is eltűnt egy időre, hogy egy nagyszabású sorozattal térjen vissza, szarkasztikus hangvételben elnézést kérve mindenkitől, aki hiányolta volna. Sorozata őszinte képeket mutat be terhes és szoptató nők testéről, valamint az anyaság mindennapi tapasztalatairól. Művei egyszerre folyamatábrák az anyává válásról, és egyszerre a megértés és emlékezés eszközei számára.

Gáldi Vinkó Andi a budapesti Moholy-Nagy Művészeti Egyetemen és a párizsi ESAG Penninghenen képzőművészetet, az Eötvös Loránd Tudományegyetemen pedig művészettörténetet és esztétikát tanult.

Munkái vizuális párhuzamokat vonnak az anyaság és a női lét intenzíven személyes és intim élményei, illetve a felnőtté válás, az öregedés, a veszteség, a nyugati és kelet-európai ideológiák közötti konfliktus egyetemes emberi tapasztalatai között.

Munkáit nemzetközi csoportos és egyéni kiállításokon is bemutatták. A közelmúltban többek között csoportos kiállításon vett részt a Robert Capa Kortárs Fotográfiai Központban és a londoni TJ Boultingban; utóbbinak (Birth) Charlotte Jansen volt a kurátora.

Andi képei többek között olyan magazinokban jelentek meg, mint az FT Weekend, az Apollo Magazine, Wallpaper, The Guardian, The Observer, Zeit Magazine, Volkstrant Magazine, M Le Monde, Die Zeit, El Pais, i-D, Dazed, Vice, The New Yorker, és a Tate. Ezek közül jó néhány a lapok megbízásából készült.

Első könyve, a Sorry I Gave Gave Birth I Disappeared But Now I’m Back (Elnézést, szültem, eltűntem, de már itt vagyok) 2022-ben jelent meg a Trolley kiadónál. Ehhez kapcsolódóan egyéni kiállításai nyíltak a budapesti Deák Erika Galériában és az Unseen Amsterdamban, illetve könyvbemutatókat tartottak a Trolley/TJ Boultingnál, a Paris Photo alatt a Ruptures Associes-nél és a berlini Bildbandnél Felix Hoffmannal közösen.

Budapesten él és dolgozik. Andit a Deák Erika Galéria képviseli.

ANDI GALDI VINKO

The decision to have children comes with the need to disappear from the scene for a short while. Some voluntarily withdraw from the world during this sensitive time, others are seized from reality by motherhood as a full-time job. Andi Gáldi also disappeared for a while, only to return with a major series, apologizing in a sarcastic tone to anyone who may have missed her. Her series includes candid images of the bodies of pregnant and breastfeeding women, and the daily experience of motherhood. Her works are both flow diagrams of the process of becoming a mother and a means for her to understand and remember.

Andi Galdi Vinko studied visual arts at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in Budapest and at ESAG Penninghen in Paris, as well as art history and aesthetics at Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest.

Her work draws visual analogies between intensely personal and intimate experiences of motherhood and womanhood and the universal human experiences of coming of age, ageing, loss, and the conflict between western and eastern European ideologies.

Her personal work has been exhibited internationally in group and solo shows. Recent group exhibitions include one at the Robert Capa Center and Birth at TJ Boulting, London, curated by Charlotte Jansen.

Andi has been commissioned by, and published in, magazines such as FT Weekend, Apollo Magazine, Wallpaper, The Guardian, The Observer, Zeit Magazine, Volkstrant Magazine, M Le Monde, Die Zeit, El Pais, i-D, Dazed, Vice, The New Yorker, and Tate, among others.

Her first book, Sorry I Gave Birth I Disappeared But Now I’m Back was published by Trolley in 2022, and was launched with a solo show each at Deák Erika Gallery in Budapest and UNSEEN Amsterdam, and with presentations at Trolley/TJ Boulting, at Ruptures Associes during Paris Photo, and at Bildband in Berlin with Felix Hoffman.

She lives and works in Budapest. Andi is represented by Deák Erika Gallery.
