Schmied Andi legutolsó projektje, a Private Views az ultra-privilegizált terekről és a New York-i elit világáról szól. Schmied a projekt során lakásvásárló magyar milliárdosnak kiadva magát bejutott Manhattan legexkluzívabb toronyházaiba, és dokumentálta azt a kilátást, ami csak keveseknek adatik meg a világon.

Schmied Andi a Bartlett School of Architecture (UCL, London) urbanisztika szakján végzett, jelenleg a Moholy-Nagy Művészeti Egyetem doktorandusza. Installációival és nyomtatott munkáival a társadalmi tér építészeti kereteit vizsgálja, és olyan, a városban található anomáliákat tár fel mint az eredetileg tervezettől nagyban eltérő funkciójú területek, utópisztikus építmények vagy a különleges kiváltságok terei.

Munkáit többek közt Londonban, Southamptonban, Szapporóban, New Yorkban, Prágában, Berlinben, Pekingben, Rotterdamban és Budapesten is bemutatták. A szapporói S-AIR, a New York-i Triangle Arts Association, a rotterdami DordtYart, a prágai Meetfactory, a norwichi Outpost és a bécsi MuseumQartier rezidenciaprogramjaiban vett rész.

Legutóbbi könyve, a Private Views: A High-Rise Panorama of Manhattan (VI PER Gallery, Prága 2021) című könyve elnyerte a Legszebb Cseh Könyvek versenyének első díját a képzőművészeti kategóriában.

Andi Budapesten él és dolgozik. A Trapéz Galéria (Budapest) képviseli.

Andi Schmied’s most recent project, Private Views, is about ultra-privileged spaces and the world of the New York elite. Pretending to be a Hungarian billionaire intent on buying a home, Schmied gained access to Manhattan’s most exclusive skyscrapers, where she documented the views that only a few in the world can see.

Andi Schmied graduated as an urban designer from the Bartlett School of Architecture (UCL, London) and is currently a Phd candidate at Moholy Nagy University of Arts and Design. With her installations and printed work, she explores the architectural framing of social space, and uncovers urban anomalies. These vary from areas that have deviated far from their originally planned function, utopian architectures or spaces of extreme privilege.

Her work, among other places, has been shown in London, Southampton, Sapporo, New York, Prague, Berlin, Beijing, Rotterdam, and Budapest. She has been an artist-in-residence at S-AIR, Sapporo, Triangle Arts Association, New York, DordtYart, Rotterdam, Meetfactory, Prague, Outpost, Norwich, and MuseumQartier, Vienna.

Her latest book, Private Views: A High-Rise Panorama of Manhattan (VI PER Gallery, Prague 2021) won the first prize in the visual arts category of the Most Beautiful Czech Books competition.

Andi lives and works in Budapest. She is represented by Trapéz Gallery (Budapest).
