Bognár Benedek legutóbbi sorozatában az álhírek, a dezinformáció, az összeesküvés-elméletek és konteók működésének és hatásmechanizmusának megértése felé fordult, úgy, hogy ő maga kezdett el olyan szituációkat létrehozni a kamera előtt, amelyek alkalmasak lehetnek a félreértésre és a belemagyarázásra.

Bognár Benedek a Moholy-Nagy Művészeti Egyetem Fotográfia szakán diplomázott. Erasmus-ösztöndíj keretében performansz- és videóművészetet tanult az Estonian Academy of Art-on, Tallinnban.

Sorozataival aktuális társadalmi jelenségekhez kapcsolódó kérdéseket fogalmaz meg, törekedve arra, hogy szokatlan vagy új nézőpontokat hozzon létre. Elsősorban a virtualitás, a digitalizáció, a képalapúvá váló kommunikáció korának tünetei foglalkoztatják. Munkáiban gyakran reflektál magára a fotográfiára, mint a világ objektív leképezésének illúziójára képes médiumra, és ennek szerepére az emberi megismerés folyamatában. Legutóbbi, CUI PRODEST című munkájában azokkal az álhírek és a dezinformáció korában születő világmagyarázatokkal foglalkozik, amelyek tudományos paradigmák helyett irracionális összefüggésekre és ellenségképekre építenek.

2013-ban meghívott művészként részt vett a svájci Fotomuseum Winterthur PLAT(T)FORM nevű programjában, 2021 és 2022-ben Pécsi József Fotográfiai Ösztöndíjat kapott, 2022-ben a Capa Központ beválogatta a FUTURES – Európai Fotográfiai Platform tehetségei közé.

2011-ben diplomamunkája megjelent a Wallpaper* magazin Graduate Directory-jában.

Budapesten él és dolgozik.

In his latest series, Benedek Bognár turns to understanding the workings and mode of action of fake news, disinformation and conspiracy theories, by creating situations in front of the camera that can be misunderstood and misinterpreted.

Benedek Bognár graduated from the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design’s Photography Programme. As an Erasmus student, he studied performance and video art at the Estonian Academy of Arts, Tallinn.

His series formulate questions about current social phenomena, while he seeks to establish unusual or new viewpoints. His primary interests are virtuality, digitalization and the age of image-based communication. In his work he often reflects on photography itself as a medium capable of the illusion of objectively rendering the world, and its role in the process of human cognition. In his latest work, CUI PRODEST, he looks at such world views that emerge in the age of fake news and disinformation, and are based on irrational forms of logic and constructed enemies rather than scientific paradigms.

In 2013, he was invited to participate in the PLAT(T)FORM programme of the Fotomuseum Winterthur in Switzerland, in 2021 and 2022 he was awarded the Pécsi József Photography Scholarship, and in 2022 he was selected by the Capa Centre as a talented artist for the FUTURES – European Photography Platform.

In 2011, his diploma piece was published in the Graduate Directory of Wallpaper* magazine.

He lives and works in Budapest.
