Ember Sária fotográfiával párhuzamosan korábban a kollázs műfajával dolgozott, melynekegyszerű, geometrikus formavilágú esztétikája egyreinkább a tériábrázolások felé vitteel az alkotót. Érdeklődéseaz absztraktabb képekésa hibrid képeklétrehozásafelé irányult,olyan klasszikus fotográfiai műfajok vizsgálatán éskövetkezetesdekonstrukcióján keresztül, mint a portré. Portréfotóinak térbekiterjesztett megfelelői egyre egyszerűbb szobrászati nyelvezetet kaptak, majda papír felől időtállóbb anyagok, amárvány felé mozdultakel. Ezzel párhuzamosan a kerámia is megjelent művészetében,mint ismeretlen, távoli kultúrák emlékeinek hordozói.

EmberSári a budapesti Moholy-Nagy Művészeti Egyetemen diplomázott. Gyakorlata számosmédiumot felölel, többek között kő, kerámia, textil, fotográfia és papírkollázsjelenik meg munkásságában. Ember munkái a tárgyak konstellációinak narratívképességét felhasználva nemcsak a reprezentáció természetét kérdőjelezik meg,hanem olyan klasszikus műfajokat is dekonstruálnak, mint a portré és acsendélet. Személyes és kollektív történetekből kiindulva művei emlékek,hagyományok és rituálék értelmezését kínálják.

2017-benelnyerte a Campari Art Prize-t Torinóban, 2019-ben pedig a Leopold BloomMűvészeti díjat Magyarországon. Számos rezidenciaprogramban vett részt, többekközött az AIR FUTURA Prágában, a Q21 / Museums Quartier Bécsben, a LitomyšlSymposiumon a Cseh Köztársaságban, a Labmis rezidencián és a Tofiq HouseAtelies São Paulóban.

Műveitnemzetközi szinten egyéni és csoportos kiállításokon is bemutatták SãoPaulóban, New Yorkban, Párizsban, Łódźban, Brünnben, Berlinben, Pozsonyban ésBudapesten. Művei megtalálhatóak a Magyar Nemzeti Galéria és az EsterházyPrivatstiftung gyűjteményében.

Budapestenél és dolgozik. Magyarországon az acb Galéria (Budapest) képviseli.

The simple, geometric aesthetic of the collages Sári Ember formerly made alongside herphotographs led the artist over time to spatial representations. The examinationand deconstruction of such classical genres of photography as the portraitarose her interest in creating more abstract and hybrid images. The plasticidiom of the spatially extended counterparts of her portrait photos becameincreasingly simpler, before she exchanged paper for durable materials, likemarble. At the same time, ceramics also appeared in her art as the vehicle ofthe memories of unknown, distant cultures.

Sári Ember graduated from the Moholy-NagyUniversity of Art and Design, Budapest.

Her practice spans a range of media, includingstone, ceramics, textiles, photography and paper collage. Drawing on thenarrative capacity of constellations of objects, Ember’s works not onlyquestion the nature of representation, but also deconstruct such classicalgenres as the portrait and the still life. With personal and collective storiesas their starting points, the pieces offer interpretations of memories,traditions and rituals.

In 2017 she won the Campari Art Prize in Turinand in 2019 the Leopold Bloom Art Prize in Hungary. She has participated inseveral residency programmes, including the AIR FUTURA in Prague, that of Q21at the MuseumsQuartier in Vienna, the Litomyšl Symposium in the Czech Republic,and those of LabMIS and Tofiq House Atelies in São Paulo.

Her works have been shown internationally insolo and group exhibitions in São Paulo, New York, Paris, Łódź, Brno, Berlin,Bratislava and Budapest. Her works can be found in the collections of theHungarian National Gallery and the Esterházy Privatstiftung.

She lives and works in Budapest. In Hungaryshe is represented by acb Gallery.
