Fabricius Annát saját gyermeke inspirálta legutóbbi sorozatának elkészítésére. A gyerekek a nyelvtanulás során különös szavak és összefüggések megalkotására képesek, ezt a mágikus logikát, sajátos asszociációs rendszert használta fel az alkotó a sorozatban, és vegyítette képzőművészeti technikákkal, monotípiával, a kézirajz gyermeki, nyers, ösztönös még ügyetlen absztrakt expresszionizmusával. A rajzok a szavaknál sokkal őszintébbek és mélyebbek lehetnek. Elárulják, hogyan látja a gyermek a világot, mitől fél, mire vágyik. A kisgyermekben – hasonlóan az ihletett művészhez és a természetben élő emberhez – a vele született adottságok, a tudattalan élmények munkálkodnak, begyakorolt sablonok nem korlátozzák, a valóság külső képe nem köti meg képzeletét.

Ezt a lenyűgöző szabadságot, még érintetlen gondolkodást igyekezett a fotó és a képzőművészet határterületén mozgó képi anyaggal megragadni Anna.

Fabricius Anna a budapesti Moholy-Nagy Művészeti Egyetem fotó szakán végzett, majd 2015-ben DLA fokozatát médiaművészként szerezte meg.

Munkásságát leginkább a megrendezett analóg fotó- és videómunkái jellemzik, emellett kiemelt fontosságú a nagyfokú szöveghasználat, mely szövegek mintegy kitágítják a kép kereteit, és újfajta perspektívába helyezik a látottakat. Legutóbbi anyagában manuális belenyúlások jelennek meg a monotípia, az olajkréta és az akryl segítségével. Munkamódszerére leginkább a kibillentés fogalma jellemző, mely helyzetekben mind a fotó- és videóalanyai, mind a nézők egy nem megszokott nézőpontból értelmezhetnek nagyon is aktuális társadalmi vagy szociológiai kérdéseket.

Munkái többek között olyan hazai és külföldi kiállításokon, intézményekben és fotófesztiválokon jelentek meg, mint a budapesti Ludwig Múzeum, a Magyar Nemzeti Galéria, a PHotoespana, a Parisphoto, a Lodz Photofestival vagy a Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Rijeka.

2012-ben dolgozott a bécsi MQ21-ben, 2015-ben az Residency Unlimited rezidenseként New Yorkban, majd a 2016-os lengyelországi rezidens tartózkodása után 2018 elejét Tajvanon töltötte. Legutóbb az Ostrale 21 Biennálé meghívott rezidenseként dolgozott Drezdában.

2012-től a Moholy-Nagy Művészeti Egyetem óraadó tanára.

Munkái több magán- és közgyűjteményben megtalálhatóak, 2022-től a Magyar Szabvány című sorozata a budapesti Ludwig Múzeum Kortárs Gyűjteményébe került.

Budapesten él és dolgozik. Magyarországon a TOBE Gallery (Budapest) képviseli.

ANNA FABRICIUS

Anna Fabricius’s latest series was inspired by her own child. As they learn to speak, children can invent strange words and correspondences, and it was this same magical logic, this particular system of associations, that the artist used in the series, combining it with fine-art techniques, monotype, the raw, instinctive but still clumsy abstract expressionism of children’s freehand drawing. Drawings can be more honest and profound than words. They reveal how a child sees the world, what he or she is afraid of, or desires. Like the inspired artist and the natural man, the young child is moved by innate gifts and unconscious experiences, unconstrained by learned patterns, unrestrained by the external image of reality.

Anna sought to capture this fascinating freedom, this still unfettered way of thinking, with imagery that straddles the line between photography and fine art.

Anna Fabricius earned her degree in photography at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in Budapest, before she received her DLA in Media Art in 2015.

Staged analogue photographs and videos form the bulk of her work, an important aspect of which is the extensive use of texts that expand, as it were, the limits of the images and offer new perspectives for them. The latest set of works involves manual interventions, the use of monotype, oil pastels and acrylic. The concept of dislocation is key to her work, in that the subjects of her photos and videos, as well as the viewer, are given unconventional viewpoints from which to interpret very current societal or sociological issues.

Her works have been shown at such exhibitions, institutions and photo festivals in Hungary and abroad as the Ludwig Museum in Budapest, the Hungarian National Gallery, PHotoEspaña, Parisphoto, the Łodz Photofestival and the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Rijeka.

She worked at MQ21 in Vienna in 2012, was a resident artist of Residency Unlimited in New York in 2015, and after her residency in Poland in 2016, she spent the beginning of 2018 in Taiwan. Most recently, she was an invited artist-in-residence at the Ostrale 21 Biennale in Dresden.

She has been an external lecturer at the Moholy-Nagy University since 2012.

Her works can be found in several private and public collections, and in 2022, her series Hungarian Standard became part of the Contemporary Collection at Ludwig Museum Budapest.

She lives and works in Budapest. In Hungary she is represented by TOBE Gallery (Budapest).
