Klenyánszki Csilla művészetét az anyaság, az anyává válás, a szülőség témája karakterizálja. Emellett markáns, mégis letisztult esztétikai vizuális nyelven az anyaság személyes és társadalmi kontextusához, biopolitikai és nemi kérdésekhez, alternatív családmodellek és a nemek közötti egyenlőséghez szolgál adalékul saját gyermekét is bevonva az alkotói folyamatba. Anyaként a gyermeki képzelet vált művészete központi témájává. A háztartásában talált tárgyakat természetüktől szokatlan módon vagy egymással természetellenes párbeszédbe állítja, amely távol áll funkciójuktól. Stúdióként is saját lakása szolgál. Noha önmagukban ezeknek a mindennapi tárgyaknak nincs eredendő szépsége vagy vonzereje, mégis lenyűgözővé válnak véletlenszerűségükben és abszurditásukban.

Klenyánszki Csilla 2012-ben végzett fotográfia alapszakon a Willem de Kooning Academy-n, majd 2021-ben mesterdiplomát szerzett a Dutch Art Institute-on.

A fotográfia mellett a mozgókép és a performansz műfajában is dolgozik. Munkáiban olyan témákat vizsgál markáns, mégis letisztult esztétikai vizuális nyelven, mint az anyaság személyes és társadalmi kontextusa, biopolitikai és nemi kérdések, alternatív családmodellek és a nemek közötti egyenlőség.

2018-ban a 33. Festival International de Mode & de Photographie-n elnyerte a Prix de la nature morte díjat. Első saját kiadású, Pillars of home című könyvét 2019-ben a Paris Photo – Aperture Foundation PhotoBook Awards első fotókönyv díjára jelölték.

Munkáit bemutatták többek között a Stedelijk Museum Schiedamban, az Arnhem Museumban, a Museum het Valkhofban, a Robert Capa Kortárs Fotográfiai Központban, az írországi Gallery of Photography-ban, az amszterdami UNSEEN es az Athéni Fotófesztiválon is.

Dolgozott a New York Times, a Süddeutsche Zeitung Magazin, az NRC, a Volkskrant Magazine és a Liberation számára.

Hollandiában él és dolgozik.

Motherhood, becoming a mother and being a parent are the salient themes of Csilla Klenyánszki’s art. Involving her own child in the creative process and employing a visual idiom that is idiosyncratic yet clean, she explores such themes as the personal and social context of motherhood, biopolitical and gender issues, alternative family models and gender equality. As a mother, she made the child’s imagination the central subject of her art. She makes the objects found around the home enter into dialogues that are unusual or alien to their nature. Her home also serves as the studio. While these everyday objects have no inherent beauty or appeal in themselves, they are fascinating in their randomness and absurdity.

Csilla Klenyánszki graduated from the Willem de Kooning Academy in 2012 with a BA in Photography, and received her MA from the Dutch Art Institute in 2021.

In addition to photographs, she also makes films and performance art pieces. Employing a visual idiom that is idiosyncratic yet clean, her works explore such themes as the personal and social context of motherhood, biopolitical and gender issues, alternative family models and gender equality.

In 2018 she won the Prix de la nature morte at the 33rd International Festival of Fashion, Photography and Fashion Accessories in Hyères. Her first self-published book, Pillars of Home, was nominated for the Paris Photo-Aperture Foundation’s 2019 PhotoBook Award, in the first photo book category.

Her works have been exhibited at the Stedelijk Museum Schiedam, the Arnhem Museum, the Museum het Valkhof, the Robert Capa Contemporary Photography Centre, the Gallery of Photography Ireland, at UNSEEN, and the Amsterdam and Athens Photo Festivals, among other places.

She has worked for The New York Times, Süddeutsche Zeitung Magazine, NRC, Volkskrant Magazine and Liberation.

She lives and works in the Netherlands.
