Schuller Judit Flóra már egy lezárt korszak, a családi hagyaték feldolgozását, ezzel együtt az emlékezetet interpretálja legutolsó sorozatában. A hagyaték felelősség, egyben az elődök feldolgozatlan élete, számtalan személyes tárgya és emléke súly is, amelynek rendszerezése, szelektálása a következő generáció feladata. És ez sokszor nem egyszerű. Célja nem a megőrzés, csak az emlékezés gyakorlása, és egy korszak lezárása, önmaga megtalálása, és ehhez képest való újrafogalmazása. A három kiállított alkotásban megfogalmazódik az az alapgondolat, hogy Te a családod folytatása vagy, a múlt egyszerre van benned jelen és meghatározza a jövődet. A családi ezüstből beolvasztott lapocska, a nagyapai hagyatékból előkerült átmenetes színszűrő és Judit egy korábbi, az előző tárgyak szerkezeti formáját véletlenszerűen hordozó tájképe mágikusan szintetizálja ezt a gondolatot.

Schuller Judit Flóra 2018-ban diplomázott a finnországi Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture fotográfia karán, ahol jelenleg doktori tanulmányokat folytat. Érdeklődése középpontjában az örökölt (traumatikus) emlékezet és annak identitásunkra gyakorolt hatása áll. Projektjeinek gyakran a családi örökség a kiindulópontja, célja pedig a feldolgozatlan múltbeli narratívákkal való kollektív megbékélés a személyes és családi elemeken, illetve mikrotörténeteken keresztül. Egyéb munkáiban a vizuális érzékelés és a fotó médiumának találkozási pontjait vizsgálja analóg fotográfiai és egyéb anyagkísérleteken keresztül.

2018-ban elnyerte a MODEM fiatal művészeknek járó díját. Munkáit az elmúlt években számos csoportos kiállításon bemutatták, többek között a debreceni MODEM-ben, a Ludwig Múzeumban, és az OFF Biennálén. Following the Thoughts of Others címmel 2021-ben nyílt egyéni kiállítási a pozsonyi Július Koller Society-ben.

Budapesten él és dolgozik.

In her latest series, Judit Flóra Schuller interprets the act of processing a period that has come to an end, the family heritage, and along the way, memory. Heritage is a responsibility, while the unprocessed life of the ancestors, their countless personal effects and memories present a burden, something the next generation needs to organize and prune. And that is often not easy. Her goal is not to preserve, but to practise remembrance, and to bring a period to an end, to find and reformulate herself in relation to it. The essential notion shared by the three exhibited works is that you are a continuation of your family, the past is both present in you and determines your future. The small plate made from the melted-down family silverware, the graduated colour filter found in her grandfather’s estate and an earlier landscape by Judit that happens to bear the forms of these objects magically synthesize this idea.

Judit Flóra Schuller graduated in 2018 from the Photography Programme of the Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture, Finland, where she is currently pursuing her PhD. The focus of her interest is on inherited (traumatic) memory and its impact on our identity. Her projects often take family heritage as their starting point, and aim to bring about collective reconciliation with the unprocessed narratives of the past through personal and family elements and micro-histories. In other works, she examines the intersections of visual perception and the medium of photography through experiments in analogue photography and other materials.

In 2018, she won MODEM’s award for young artists. In recent years, her works have been presented at several group exhibitions, including at the MODEM in Debrecen, Ludwig Museum and the OFF Biennale. In 2021 she had a solo exhibition, Following the Thoughts of Others at the Julius Koller Society in Bratislava.

She lives and works in Budapest.
