Vékony Dorottya fotó kollázsai a testtel, mint művészeti anyaggal foglalkoznak. Munkái a bodyart korai művészeti performanszait idézik. Fotókollázsait egybefonódott aktok torzói adják, amelyek a művész és a néző közötti intim viszony megteremtésére törekedve az erotikum felé haladnak.

Vékony Dorottya jelenleg a Moholy-Nagy Művészeti Egyetem Doktori iskolájának hallgatója, valamint az Eszterházy Károly Egyetem Média és Design Intézetének tanársegédje. Tanulmányait a MOME Fotográfia mesterképzésén és Lisszabonban végezte.

Művészeti munkáiban évek óta a test tematikával, mint radikális interpretációra alkalmas struktúrával foglalkozik. Legfőbb eszköze a fotográfia, de gyakran használ performatív elemeket, melyeket az állóképbe sűrítés vagy újrajátszás eszközeivel valósít meg. Az elmúlt években intenzíven foglalkozik a termékenység és a reproduktív jogok kérdéskörével.

Tagja a Secondary Archive Közép-Kelet Európai nőművészeti platformnak (2020) valamint a Fiatal Képzőművészek Stúdiója Egyesületnek (2011). Háromszor nyerte el a Pécsi József Fotóművészeti Ösztöndíjat (2015, 2017, 2018).

Munkái hazai és külföldi csoportos kiállításokon jelentek meg, többek között: Photo London–Peckham 24, Maison Européenne de la Photographie Paris, Museum of Fine Arts Boston, C/O Berlin, Balassi Intézet – Istanbul, UGM Studio – Maribor, MUSE Gallery – Mumbai, Modem Debrecen, Capa Központ, FKSE.

Önálló kiállítása nyílt a Budapest Galériában (2023), az AQB-ban (2019), az ENA Viewing Space-ben (2018) és a Capa Központ Project Roomjában (2014).

Budapesten él és dolgozik.

DOROTTYA VÉKONY

The body as an artistic material is the concern of Dorottya Vékony’s photo collages. Her works bring in mind the early art performances of body art. Her photo collages are torsos of intertwined nudes that move towards the erotic in an attempt to create an intimate relationship between artist and viewer.

Dorottya Vékony currently pursues her PhD at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design and is an assistant lecturer at the Institute of Media and Design of Eszterházy Károly University. She holds an MA in photography from MOME, and also studied in Lisbon.

The body as a structure suitable for radical interpretation has been the subject of her art for years. While photography is her main medium, she often employs performative elements, which she condenses into stills or uses to re-enact scenes. In recent years, she has intensely probed the questions of fertility and reproductive rights.

She is a member of Secondary Archive, a platform for women artists from Central and Eastern Europe (2020), and of the Studio of Young Artists Association (2011). She was awarded the Pécsi József Photography Scholarship on three occasions (2015, 2017, 2018).

Her works have been shown at group exhibitions in Hungary and abroad, including at Photo London – Peckham 24, Maison Européenne de la Photographie Paris, the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, C/O Berlin, Balassi Institute – Istanbul, UGM Studio – Maribor, the MUSE Gallery – Mumbai, MODEM Debrecen, the Capa Centre, and the Studio of Young Artists Association.

She had solo exhibitions at Budapest Gallery (2023), AQB (2019), ENA Viewing Space (2018) and the Project Room at the Capa Center (2014).

She lives and works in Budapest.
